Bangladesh national cricket team shouldn’t be allowed in the next world cup if they continue to play with such disastrous performances.

Imagine letting a sports team determine your mood for the next 4 years and they come third last on the biggest stage of tournaments. Frustrating right? Us, Bangladeshi fans can relate because our so called “Shonar Chelera” has messed up another world cup. And this time, it's worse.

The one sport that unites all Bangladeshis together is cricket. As a Bangladeshi, you surely love cricket more than any other sport. Because the Bangladesh national cricket team is relevant for a long time now. From the era of Bashar-Ashraful to Miraj-Mustafiz, we have come a long way. Watching cricket is like another festival in Bangladesh. And the biggest stage of this festival is The World Cup. During the world cup, everyone’s excitement remains so high as the tournament occurs every four years. Bangladesh is a performer in most of the world cups. But are the performances really worth watching? Let’s analyze the Bangladesh team’s performance in this year’s world cup.

This year Bangladesh started the world cup with a win against Afghanistan. Then they lost six consecutive matches. However, they won the match against Sri Lanka but lost again to Australia that too by 8 wickets. They finished the tournament being 8th in the point table out of 10 countries participating.

This is one of the most shameful performances ever by the Bangladeshi team.

There are several reasons behind this loss other than just luck. First comes the immature behavior by Tamim Iqbal, one of the finest batsmen the team had. He stepped down from the team at the eleventh hour and that too for the reason being he was asked to bat at 3rd/4th down instead of opening. God knows what really happened between him and Shakib that he took such a decision at a short notice. Talking about Shakib, our poster boy. We expected more from him as he is the no. 1 all-rounder in the world. Opening showrooms, shooting ads, taking business trips are kind of his thing. Prioritizing businesses so much might have cost his practice periods and performances. Mahmudullah Riyadh was the only consistent performer in this world cup. And the funny part is, he was also left out from the squad initially. The Bangladesh cricket board is another mess. They are so clueless. Our team doesn’t know whom to open. There is not a single batsman to rely on. There is no batter on whom we can rely to open and make runs consistently. One match up, next match down. Absolute example, Liton Das. Overall, the team seems so less motivated. The hunger to win is still missing after 37 years of cricket.

According to my opinion, the Bangladesh national cricket team is not doing justice to the fans.

Families wait in front of the TV, friends make plans together to watch them play, big projector screens are arranged on the streets and some buy tickets and travel to support their team. We expect so much from our team just to get humiliated like this? I understand winning the world cup is not a piece of cake. Winning every match is not a piece of cake. But playing this disastrous is not just fate. It's so much beyond that. And if Bangladesh national cricket team continues to play with such disastrous performances, I don’t think they should be allowed to play in the next world cup.
