Disaster State Of Bangladesh Cricket
Cricket is our love, cricket is our heartbeat, cricket is the passion of 180 million Bangladeshis. Whenever Bangladesh play, people go to stadium and support The Tigers cheering their heart out. The ones who can't go sit in front of their TV sets at home and watch the game leaving their works no matter how important it is. These fans work as their 12th man in the field which motivates the players to do well in every stage of the game. But in recent times the team has been playing so bad especially the performance in the World Cup has given the fans nothing but just utter disappointment.

Leading up to the World Cup everything was going well as Bangladesh finished 3rd in the ICC Men's ODI World Cup Super League standings under the leadership of Tamim Iqbal. But as Tamim declared to retire all of a sudden (he broke his retirement the very next day), Shakib was given the captaincy as Tamim told he won't captain the national side anymore. The Asia Cup was a disappointment as they could not reach the final and won only 2 games. Fans were eagerly hoping they will see a much better Bangladesh side in the World Cup but that was much more shocking and they even lost to The Netherlands which no one even dreamt off in their wildest dreams. And now the team is in a stage where they need changes left right and center.
Not having a world class coaching panel is one of the key reasons why this side is struggling. Yeah Hathuru, Nic Pothas, and co. are coaches but they are not world class by any means. If you have a look at their CV they never worked for a well known side let alone being successful. Even in Hathuru's previous stint as Bangladesh head coach he created some chaos in the team management and then joined Sri Lanka's coaching panel without even properly informing the Bangladesh team management. Out of nowhere, when Russell Domingo was getting success and even helped winning the ODI series vs South Africa in South Africa, he was kicked out of the Bangladesh job and Hathuru was recalled again. Not only that, he was offered a massive wage this time which was not justifiable at all. He got some positive results when Bangladesh played at home but in the big tournaments he failed to deliver as the head coach. Even his win/loss ratio this time is the worst among all other recent head coaches.
Improving infrastructure from the root level is the most essential thing now right from the word go. If you see the condition of our stadiums, most of them are not capable of hosting any games due to its very poor state. Due to that, players can't emerge from there and that's the reason why we still have not got any proper replacements of our FAB 5. Not only that, we play most of our games in Mirpur where the pitches are so bad that often 200 is impossible to score in domestic games as well as ODIs. If that's the case then how will our batters perform well in the international stage if they don't get proper wickets to bat on in home conditions. If this is not improved then it's sorry to say but the state of our cricket will never improve a single bit.
Nowadays, sports media is spreading so much negativity that players are now more afraid of what the media is going to present about them if they perform bad rather than concentrating more on the pitch while playing. And the negativity reached to such a state that the BCB had to restrict the journalists from entering the stadium while the players practice so that it doesn't hamper the player's practice sessions. Not only that, the journalists are constantly spreading false information regarding them which the players are tired of hearing and often they are also taking steps themselves because it doesn't allow them to stay at their comfort zone and play their natural game.
Cricket is one of the very few mediums by which people of Bangladesh get entertainment. When Bangladesh play the whole nation sit together to support our Tigers. So it is high time, the cricket of ours need to be improved otherwise if this situation continues to worsen even more, the future will be much darker and it will be way more harder to come out of it.
